Are you ready for Remus?

teaser 3

I have finished up the first complete draft of Stone Seduction and am in the process of more editing. 80% of it has already been heavily edited so hopefully it won’t take too long before I can send it off to my Beta readers. With princess costumes made and Halloween out of the way, I should be able to focus on Joss and Remus. 😀

The 2015 Dance Recital

If you’ve been reading this blog or getting my posts on facebook, you know that my darling daughter is in dance, which I talk about often enough. This was her fourth year in dance – her second on the competitive team – and it has been so much fun watching her grow and improve as a dancer (and a human being!) She got up on pointe, kicked some butt in tap, and danced away in jazz and musical theater.

As promised, here are the videos from the recital. Most of them were taken during rehearsal where we were allowed to use tripods. However, her solo and trio are from recital, which means her solo and trio were filmed with a handheld since a tripod would have gotten in everyone’s way. Rehearsals were running long and so the preshow dances (the solos, duos, and trios) were run through on the day of recital. The lights weren’t set up and the music was playing over a small radio that was on stage and the girls were still amazing. I am posting darling daughter’s solo run through because 1.) I love it and could watch her dance all of the time 2.) it gives you a chance to hear the taps that sometimes get lost beneath the music. 3.) it’s awesome.

The Hernando’s video is a little off because when it was recorded during the matinee rehearsal, somehow the audio didn’t get recorded (shot gun mike was plugged in but not turned on. Oops.) When it was recorded during the evening, there were a few mishaps but the audio turned out well, albeit with 10 seconds less audio than the earlier video. Also the girls walked on instead of having the curtains open onto them so there are a few “phantom” taps.

It’s My Party (Jazz group)

Dance of the Mirlitons (pointe group)

Hernando’s Hideaway (tap group)

OMG (musical theater group)

Shut Up and Dance (cast – finale)

White and Nerdy (tap trio)

Radioactive (tap solo – rehearsal)

Radioactive (tap solo – recital)

So, I hoped you enjoyed the videos! Every time you buy one of my books, this is what you are supporting and I want to let you know how much I appreciate all of you!! ❤ (The studio is also where I get the majority of my writing in so I want to thank WofD as well!)

A Million Kisses or More is publishing

small cover

Well, impatience has won out – A MILLION KISSES OR MORE will be going live as soon as the files are approved at Amazon, so either tonight (5/21/15) or tomorrow (5/22/15) The book version will be available tomorrow after I approve the above cover. I had one ready to go but the blurb was a little off so I had to fix it and that means another twenty-four hour wait. There will be a goodreads giveaway that ends 6/22/15 but, again, we must wait for that approval. To enter, click here: https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/show/139935-a-million-kisses-or-more

Also, and this is the coolest thing ever, I am going to be getting a few copies signed BY THE MODELS!!!!!!! While I will be keeping one, I will have a giveaway for the other copies. I am very excited about this book because CJGwin Photography took many gorgeous photos of these two so I was able to make the interior even more interesting. I don’t think it will work when I upload to smashwords for distribution everywhere else (in three months), but for Kindle users, you are in for a sexy ass treat.

I will post the links when everything goes live. The book will be ready for this weekend while we remember the fallen. ❤

Also – I will once again be attending the Local Author Showcase June 26, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Headquarters Library in Fayetteville, NC Both A Million Kisses or More and Stone Solitude will be available for purchase – $10.00 instead of $12.95 on line. Plus, you can have them signed 🙂 I might have a few of the other books, too, but romance isn’t a huge genre at this shindig.

A Million Kisses update

Last night A Million Kisses or More got sent off to the Beta readers, with a tentative publishing date of June 1st. It could be sooner if the beta readers love it or it could be later if the response is, “WTF? Seriously? What the heck is wrong with you?” Now that A Million Kisses is in the hands of my Beta readers, it is time to work on the blurb, which is exceedingly difficult, but that is always the case. The story is a contemporary romance/ romantic comedy (with some drama) and it’s sweet and fluffy and the perfect book to read after a dark erotica book has effed up your head and heart or an angsty book has made you cry ugly tears. The heat level is probably a 2 or 2 1/2 out of 5 levels – more along the lines of Blind Attraction rather than Winter’s Heart (Winter makes an appearance in A Million Kisses!)

So far, there are A Million Kisses bookmarks, stickers, water bottles, and coffee mugs. The models are so perfect for Ana and Harrison and I owe a HUGE debt of gratitude to CJGwin photography for finding them – be sure to check out her facebook page and give her some love: https://www.facebook.com/Gwinsphotos and he website: http://www.gwinsphotos.com/

Here are some teasers to give you a little taste:

two months? seriously?

Life has been a little crazy around here lately and my blog has been put on the back burner while we run around like mad men. There has been fairy wings, dance competitions, writing, sewing, crocheting, dance classes, visits with family, a little bit of reading, Supernatural marathons, Stargate SG-1 marathons, Stargate Atlantis marathons… well, we just began our Stargate Atlantis marathon, and a million other things. A MILLION KISSES OR MORE is getting closer and closer to being finished – just a few more scenes to write and then the first rounds of edits and then beta readers and then a couple more rounds of edits and then publishing!! I am still aiming for a late spring/ early summer release, though it will be later than my initial goal of April 21 (my birthday 🙂 ) Hopefully sometime in May, fingers crossed. After that, I’ll finish up Stone Seduction (which was almost halfway finished when I started A Million Kisses, go figure) and then we’ll see where we go from there since there are several options. Ana’s sister wants her story told, there are still a LOT of gargoyles out there, plus I have a whole storage box full of snippets and ideas. Or something like Winter might come along and blow everything else out of the way. Who knows.

I do have some pretty awesome stuff for A Million Kisses to give away when I get to that point. My models are so perfect for Ana and Harrison and they are so beautiful that I want to put their images on all of the things. 🙂 Once it gets closer to publication, I’ll start thinking about giveaways and such.

Stone Solitude is now on Smashwords and therefore should shortly be available everywhere else. I had forgotten to uncheck the automatic renewal in KDP select so it had a full six months as Amazon exclusive – sorry to any non-Amazon readers out there!! I uploaded the files yesterday and when they did an epub check, there were two issues dealing with images that made it fail so I had to take out the images. It’s not a big loss – they were only used at the chapter heading and for story breaks – but they were kind of pretty. Anyhow, Stone Solitude is available at more places now.

That’s all for now. I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter and spring break. ❤

On making fairy wings

I’ve been a little preoccupies lately with making fairy wings so when I haven’t been at dance, I haven’t been writing. The story goes that at the beginning of the dance year, one of the darling daughter’s teachers asked if I could make fairy wings for all of the girls in one of her classes and for the fairies for the show and for two soloists. For some godforsaken reason, I said yes, despite the fact that I had never made a pair of fairy wings in my life. So I started my research and ordered my supplies, from my bulk wire hangers to my massive role of cellophane to my wire, as well as buying out all of the white knee high stockings at two walmarts. Let me just say that in the instructions, they leave a lot out. 🙂

I figured I would spend the two weeks over Christmas vacation getting a start on my project, after figuring out all of the details beforehand. Of course, we spent a week in Savannah so that cut down my time to one week to get my fairy wing making skills on. One of the things I learned is bending wire is difficult, especially when you want two of the same shape. So, I bent two wires/ hangers at the same time and when I added the stocking for the stocking wings, I re-bent them back into the shape I wanted. Another thing –  do NOT cut off the hook. All of the instructions started with cutting the hangers hanger off. DON’T. I loved that hanging part because it allowed me to spray paint the darn things and then hang them up to dry.

After being painted and sparkled, the fairy wings are hanging around waiting for the next step.

After being painted and sparkled, the fairy wings are hanging around waiting for the next step.

Painting the glitter spines was a bit time consuming but I found it worked best to use Modge Podge and a foam brush and then a liberal use of glitter. (Do not fear the glitter – my house sparkles now.) In most of the directions, they tell you to wrap all of the wire ends together with some duct tape and then cover with a ribbon or a flower and then attach some straps or ribbons to tie onto your back. Yeah, doing this is going to have your wings flapping around and not in a good way. It took me some time to figure out the best way to keep them stable. I ended up using these little hard plastic tubes that I had bought for the foaming candy the daughter and I like to make Anyway, we cut off the spin on top and the bottom so it was a hollow tube about 3 inches long and 5/8 inches in diameter. At this point, I did cut off the hanger part of the hanger (on some, I cut most of it off but left a little bit, folded it over and squashed it down.) I wrapped the ends in floral tape and then duct tape – tearing off a piece of duct tape and then tearing it into thirds so it was easier to use. I stuffed the ends into the tubes and then wrapped floral wire in a figure 8 around the wings and then once more before adding some E6000 glue to hold the buggers in place.

The fairy wings!

The fairy wings!

There is still a little bit of work left to do on these wings but you can see how they turned out. (I have to wrap the little tube with ribbon and add the elastic bands)

But then, there are the wings for the fairies in the show. The teacher wanted them to be iridescent so I looked into cellophane. First off, I bent the wings into shape, which was the easy part. The darling daughter wrapped all of the wire with floral tape and I like how they turned out.

fairy wings 2

But then it came time to cover them. The instructions and videos make it look so easy to make cellophane wings. It’s not. Unless that was just the cellophane I bought, all four different types from four different stores. It never melted together, except when I didn’t want it to, it was fragile on the frame, it ripped off easily, when the ends were glues down, there was an unattractive ridge along the edges. It has been a frustrating process. So I went to the store and bought some organza. This made the wings absolutely gorgeous but I still struggled with attaching them to the wire frame. (For this, I spray glued the cellophane, added some organza, let it dry a little, flipped it over, spray glued the other side, put the wire frame down and another piece of organza) I tried several methods before coming up with the one I think will work. I still have one side of organza with the cellophane (organza on the outside, the cellophane next to the wire frame) but things are a little different. At this point, the edges are snipped and then glued down close to the wire frame. And then I use 4 mm vinyl on the other side. I haven’t glued the edges down yet but I am very happy with how much more durable the wings seem to be.

The top wing is the organza-cellophane-wire frame-organza while the bottom is the organza-cellophane-wire frame-vinyl.

The top wing is the organza-cellophane-wire frame-organza while the bottom is the organza-cellophane-wire frame-vinyl.

So, that has been my life for the past couple of weeks. it has been a lot of fun and occasionally frustrating. For the second type of wings, I have to figure out if they can be made with the u-hook so they can be slipped into a bodice or if they’ll have to be put in the tube thing. I just have to finish them up so I can work on A Million Kisses or More and Stone Seduction!

(Yes, making fairy wings WILL be mentioned in my next book)

Two covers!

As promised, here are the covers for the two books that I am currently working on, Stone Seduction and A Million Kisses or More, with the added bonus of a little tease from each one. There may be a few tweaks to the covers between now and publishing but that is still a while away, since each book is only half complete. Enjoy!!

STONE SEDUCTION is the story of Remus, twin brother of Roman from Stone Solitude, and Joss, a woman who is desperate for a gargoyle’s protection, desperate for Remus.

[Remus’s] arms came around her waist as he held her closer, as he put his lips against her ear. “You’ll have to hold me close until everyone leaves. My robe seems to have fluttered off the building.”

Biting her lips to keep from laughing, [Joss] managed to choke out an apology, “Sorry.”

“Apology accepted,” he said with a sexy grin.

Looking over her shoulder, she caught the knowing smiles on the other gargoyles’ faces. Reddening, she said, “We seem to be having a slight wardrobe malfunction. Is there a spare robe lying around?”

“It won’t matter if you find another robe, Joss,” Remus growled in her ear, just loud enough for her to hear. “I plan on having you naked and on your back in three minutes flat.”

“There are children present,” she hissed, unable to keep from smiling.

“My brothers are old enough to understand the basics,” he grinned. “And if not, this might prove educational.”

“While your brothers are most likely well-versed in the art of seduction,” she grinned. “Your very young niece and nephew are not.”

His eyes widened as he pulled his head back and stared down at her. “Little Miss Georgia and Little Master James left about two minutes ago with the rest of their mothers. And there goes the rest.”

“How do you do that?” she asked softly, brushing her thumb over his full lower lip. “Know exactly what’s going on around you when all of your attention is on me?”

“It’s my job,” he said simply.

“Then it’ll be my job to see if I can ever distract you to the point that you are unaware of anything that’s not me,” she said.

“That’s never going to happen,” he vowed with a haughty smile.

“Just like you’ll never give up your nights?” she asked, arching a single eyebrow. At his nod, she grinned, “Well, I look forward to the day I prove you wrong on both counts.”

“Don’t hold your breath,” he grinned. Draping his arm around her shoulders, unconcerned about his nudity now that they were alone on the roof, he pulled her against his side. “Now, get that sweet ass of yours downstairs because you have ninety seconds left before I fuck you.”

And then there is A MILLION KISSES OR MORE, a romance to read after a dark book mind fucks you into darkness. It’s a story about two souls, Ana & Harrison, who are simply meant to be together with plenty of heat and sweet.

(Harrison) needed to see her, speak to her, alone. Standing up, ignoring the catcalls coming from Liverpool and Jones, he grabbed his handcuffs from his belt and crossed the distance between them. “Ana.”

Startled, she jumped as she turned around. She gifted him with her heart-stopping smile as she untied her apron. “Harrison. Did you run out of soda because if you did, I can’t help you. I just clocked off.”

“I came over to arrest you.”

Her lips parted and her eyebrows shot up to her hair line as she swallowed. “Pardon?”

Taking the apron from her, he set it down before he took her hand. He gently put the metal cuff on her wrist all the while holding her eyes. Her breath hitched as she automatically raised her other hand and softly asked, “Why are you arresting me?”

“You’re causing a disturbance to the peace,” he said, his voice coming out low and gravelly as he snapped on the other cuff. Her pupils were swallowing the green of her eyes as her chest heaved with each panted breath she took. He wanted to devour her whole. “More specifically, you’re causing a disturbance to my peace.”

“If you keep looking at me like that, your coworkers will think there’s something between us.”

“Sweetheart, I think they figured that out the moment we walked in and I couldn’t keep my eyes off you,” he told her, reaching up and brushing a strand of hair from her face.

Updates and a belated Happy New Year!

There was a time when I posted nearly every day, sometimes two or three times a day, but now my muses take a vacation nearly every weekend and I barely write at all when I’m at home. Unfortunately, that includes updating my blog and facebook – or rather NOT updating them. Instead, nearly all of my writing is done while darling daughter is in her dance classes during the week. Since she is in a lot of dance classes, that’s quite a bit of internet free writing time. (It works out well since all of my earnings go to pay for said dance classes, competition fees, costumes, etc. 🙂  )

Anyway, I am currently working on Stone Seduction (Remus’s story) and A Million Kisses or More, a contemporary romance. Both are sitting at 50,000 words (so I’ve written 100,000 words since Halloween, just not for one book) and I am pretty sure where the stories are going. They just have to be written.

Le sigh.

I hope to share the covers and possibly some teasers from these two books in the upcoming weeks. Actually, I have the cover done for Stone Seduction and I am tweaking A Million Kisses…. (I’m very excited about A Million Kisses because I am working with an amazing photographer whose work is beautiful. Be sure to check out her facebook page and give it a like: https://www.facebook.com/Gwinsphotos) Since I am eager to share, I can be talked into revealing the cover for Stone Seduction if anyone is interested. And as soon as I have done justice to Ms. Gwin’s photographs, A Million Kisses will be ready as well.

So I hope you all have a wonderful 2015 and I want to wish a slightly belated Happy Birthday to my middlest son.

As of this morning, they don’t show up on the Amazon page unless you click on the book and then they appear. Hopefully the little thumb nail will have the new covers sooner rather than later. Either way, here they are:
